Goal Setting

Updated: Nov 21, 2019

Creating SMART goals is a great way to set yourself up towards achieving your desired outcome. S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym to help provide you with the tools to develop the best method for your path to success!

S- Be Specific about your goal. Make sure you can provide enough details about what your goal is and your desired outcome.

M- Make sure your goal is Measurable. With any goal, it's important to have a way of measuring your success and progress towards achieving it. How will you know if you are on the right path?

A- Is your goal Attainable? Be realistic when creating a goal for yourself. If you have tried achieving the same goal before and it didn't workout, perhaps you need to make your goal more realistic for you or start smaller. Set smaller, more attainable steps to help bring you closer to your overall goal, especially if it seems your original goal may be too much to fathom at first.

R- Stay Relevant with your goal. Is this goal something that's important to you on a regular basis? Creating a goal that is relevant to your life and in your future will help keep you motivated in the steps toward achieving it.

T- Your goal should be Timely. If you don't set a time to reach your destination, you may never get there. If you don't give yourself enough time to get there, you may get discouraged and lose the drive needed to stay with it. Take an honest look at how long you expect your journey to take. Then break down the total time into smaller, more manageable units. For example, if you have a goal that you hope to reach within a year, break it up into monthly or weekly increments that can help you achieve the end goal. In this way you can keep yourself motivated and on track with each small step you take towards achieving the end result.
